19 of Daniil Medvedev's 21 victories have been earned on hardcourt

A resurgent the Russian player won his first trophy for nearly 30 months with success over Corentin Moutet in the competition championship match.

The athlete, a ex- world number one, has experienced a challenging period, winning just one win at the Grand Slams and suffering a setback at the US Open.

The player's varied form on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his serving in specific - caused him exiting of the elite rankings and finally separating with former mentor Gilles Cervara.

Presently collaborating with his coach and his other coach, the tennis star has gradually progressed in the past month - culminating in a hard-fought three-set victory over Frenchman Moutet.

This marks his initial championship following the Italian tournament and initial on a hard surface after March of the previous year.

The win also indicates the Russian has achieved 21 championships at twenty-one different competitions.

"This marks the first occasion I'm at a event with my both daughters together, so to secure a trophy is particularly special," commented world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.

"This victory is in tribute of my younger daughter my daughter, because the initial championship I won when my child my daughter was delivered was for her."

Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his past six finals, including in that event previously this season.

The player's defensive approach and regular emotional displays on the playing surface had caused observers to question if his skill to play at the top level was concluded.

Yet the athlete has implemented adjustments in the past month, making an effort to approach the net and play assertively, reinforced by an improved service.

The champion recovered from a break down in the initial set against the challenging opponent, winning 4 of the concluding five exchanges to gain the advantage.

Both players swapped service breaks in the second set before Moutet, bidding for his maiden tour championship, took control to create a decider.

Moutet saved four early-game chances in a close final set before the champion won the break to that score to secure the win.

Fittingly, Medvedev earned victory with a shot at the net, with the Frenchman incapable to handle a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
